A Brief Q&A With Dr. Humphreys

When did you first think about going to medical school? Did you have relatives who were doctors? No one in my family had medical careers. I remember being in grade 7 and being allowed to go to the anatomy lab at the University of Saskatchewan and learning about neuro anatomy. That's when I first thought about working in medicine.
So, what led you to pursue plastic surgery? While working on a research project in medical school I met a plastic surgeon who was very passionate about the specialty. His passion was contagious, and I fell in love with plastic surgery.
What procedure do you enjoy performing the most?I enjoy everything I do as a plastic surgeon. One of the things that attracted me to the specialty was the variety of procedures. I love that, as a plastic surgeon, I get to perform surgery on all areas of the body.
What's the most significant change you've seen in the aesthetics field? The significant increase in the number of nonsurgical options patients now have, especially when considering facial rejuvenation.
What would you be doing if you weren't a plastic surgeon?I think I'd be in business.
Tell us a bit about your family.I've been married for 17 years and we have 3 children, including two daughters and a son. Our family also includes a lovable labradoodle.
How do you spend your time when you're not in the office?Depending on the time of year, I'll either be golfing or skiing. I enjoy spending time with my family regardless of the weather.
